At our latest general meeting, we were lucky to host a panel of first-year med students from California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM)! These MS1s shared their honest experiences about what life in med school is really like—from the highs and lows of their first year to tips they wish they knew as pre-meds.

They talked about how they chose CUSM, how they manage their time, and what the adjustment from undergrad to med school felt like. They also gave some great advice on staying motivated, finding balance, and keeping up with the fast pace of classes.

One of the most helpful parts of the panel was the Q&A, where attendees asked questions about everything from application tips to what their schedules look like day-to-day. The panelists were super open and encouraging, making the whole session feel very real and reassuring.

Big thanks to our CUSM MS1 guests for taking the time to speak with us—it was inspiring to see where hard work and dedication can lead, and it definitely gave many of us a clearer picture of what to expect on the road ahead!
