In our first general meeting of Spring 2023, we had a UCR Alum Family Medicine Physician, Dr. Mayra Hernandez Schulte, come speak about her career and her journey getting there!
The event was well-attended by our members, who were eager to hear from a successful medical professional and learn about the challenges and rewards of a career in medicine. Dr. Schulte shared her experiences from medical school to residency and beyond, and offered advice on how to navigate the competitive field of medicine.
As a UCR alum herself, Dr. Schulte emphasized the importance of networking and building connections with fellow students, faculty, and alumni. She encouraged our members to make the most of their time in college and to take advantage of the resources available to them.
Dr. Schulte's talk was engaging and informative, and sparked interesting discussions among our members. It was inspiring to hear her story and to learn about the impact she has had on her patients and community.
She also talked about her experiences as a non-traditional medical school applicant and the obstacles she overcame. We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Schulte for taking the time to speak with us and sharing her valuable insights. If you missed this meeting, be sure to go to our "General Meetings" tab and click the video link there!
At the end of the meeting, we concluded by talking about our upcoming events in Volunteering, Blue Tent fundraisers, and Socials. Be sure to take a look at these in our calendar on the home page, and we hope to see you at our next general meeting on April 26th!
