In our second general meeting of Spring 2023, AMSA held a guest speaker event featuring a Director of Recruitment from the Western Atlantic University School of Medicine, Brad Schmidt. The representative was very informative and provided us with valuable insights into the admission requirements, program details, and career opportunities available to students.
During the meeting, the representative emphasized the importance of having a strong academic background and demonstrated commitment to the medical field for admission to the program. We also learned about the esteemed founding individuals and leadership team, which demonstrated the university's commitment to providing a high-quality education to their students.
One of the most exciting aspects of the program was the opportunity for students to work with partner hospitals in the United States, which would provide valuable hands-on experience. The representative provided us with a detailed timeline for the program, outlining key milestones along the way. We were also impressed with the application process, as the representative gave us detailed information on the materials required and the deadlines for submission. Additionally, the representative was very generous in offering their contact information and even brought pizza to the meeting, which made for a delightful experience.
Overall, the meeting with the WAUSM university representative was informative and enjoyable. We left with a greater understanding of the medical school program and the opportunities it provides for aspiring medical professionals. It was clear that the university is committed to providing students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to excel in their medical careers.
After the meeting, AMSA members headed over to Boba Tea House and were able to network regarding the upcoming board decisions for the following school year! We had a great time talking to you all and sharing more about AMSA and leadership positions within it!
